The PassionWorks model
The book, PassionWorks - your guide to passion in the modern workplace was researched and written by David Jones, based on in-depth interviews with over 200 people from Europe and North America who were passionate about their work. The objective was to understand passion at work and from the research a uniquely practical model of how passion operates, was developed. David had started out with the firm belief that there had to be more to passion and engagement, than ‘I love my job'. His research confirmed that passion is dependent on the combination of doing work that has real meaning for the person doing it, and a feeling that real progress is being made. Furthermore the model identifies eight specific ‘non-passion' states and shows you how to move people (yourself, your team) to a positive, productive state.
How do I access the PassionWorks approach?
Every organisation is different and their needs are different. We have developed a unique set of resources that can be assembled so that your specific needs are met:
- Individual on-line diagnostic and personalised report
By completing the fully validated diagnostic you will discover which phase is dominating your working experience or that of your team. The 14 page report will not only explain the model to you, and show you where on the model you sit, it will also provide practical strategies and advice for moving towards passion at work, or, if you are already there, how to stay there. Many people use this diagnostic as a standalone resource (find out more) and others combine it with the other resources below. - Team diagnostic and report
When teams complete the diagnostic we can also provide a report showing you where the team as a whole are - whether they are experiencing passion and how the dynamics of the team are working. - In-depth workshops
Using the outputs of the diagnostics as a start point, an experienced consultant will facilitate an in-company workshop in which every person will be able to explore the PassionWorks model and think through the implications of the insights they gain. Specific actions are identified to improve individual and team productivity and passion. Workshops can be put together for groups of individuals, leaders and intact teams. - Introductory workshops
A rapid introduction to the PassionWorks approach and model. Perfect for managers and leaders who want to understand the model and think about how they could use an understanding of the phases to work and/or manage more effectively. - Job aids and getting started guide
The PassionWorks approach is practical and we have put together a range of practical job aids to help you to start using the approach as quickly and as easily as possible.
